Burneside Amateur Theatrical Society’s summer showstoppers extravaganza sees John Dodds, Helen Townson and Ron Milnes reprise their roles of Mr Bumble, Tara Croft and Mr Fudge.
With a new storyline for the pair, the show features songs from Little Shop of Horrors, Beauty and the Beast, Mama Mia, Matilda and many more.
Mr Fudge has disappeared and locked the portal to the Land of Pure Imagination behind him. Mr Bumble and Tara must find another portal then start a journey through the land to find him, coming across magical characters and musicals along their way… Will there be a happy ending where friends are reunited and the Bookstore goes on to continued success? Join us at the Bryce to find out!
Featuring one of the largest Showstopper’s adult singing and dancing cast ever and a junior group that is growing in confidence and ability with every show, this promises to be the biggest showstopper spectacular yet!
The show’s producer, Sue Cook says:
The process of devising a show, with original script, takes a lot of time and John Dodds has risen to the challenge, hanging his script around the show songs to create a coherent and funny journey through a carefully crafted world of imagination...
It wasn’t an easy task! Songs to fit around the script...the script needed to be revised and edited to make the marriage between script and song harmonious...well in my head! And by this stage...it’s rehearsal time...and in come the cast to sing their hearts out and dance their way around the Bryce rehearsal space.
One thing that has really delighted me this year is the quality of not just the singers, but also the dancers. Viki Buckley has certainly raised the standard and, with input from Carly Pearson and the multi-talented Clare Walker, has produced some impressive numbers that the cast has risen to challenge of performing.
And not forgetting Helen Fothergill, who has done another amazing job with the BATS Juniors.
With the backstage crew working away on lighting, costumes and stages, I promise that this will be a production to remember...
